Yateley man, 40, dies in head-on crash and passenger sustains life-threatening injuries

His female passenger sustained life-threatening injuries and the driver of the other car, a man in his 40s from Bagshot, was injured

According to Dorset Police, the collision occurred , October 17, at approximately 11.40 a.m. on the A354 Weymouth Relief Road. A white Mercedes and a white Nissan Micra were involved in the collision.

The driver of the Micra, a 54-year-old male from Yateley, Hampshire, was tragically killed at the scene after suffering extremely severe injuries, according to a police statement.

“A woman who was also in the automobile had potentially fatal injuries and was taken to Southampton General Hospital via air ambulance. Both the coroner and their families have been notified.

“The driver of the Mercedes, a man from Bagshot in Surrey and aged in his 40s, sustained minor injuries.”

Police say the road was closed between the Jurassic and Stadium roundabouts to allow emergency services to treat the casualties. It reopened at just before 5.30pm .

“We are sending our condolences to the man and woman’s family during this extremely trying time,” said Police Sergeant Lee Savage of the Dorset traffic section.

“I am aware that there were other cars in the area when the collision occurred, and I would ask anyone who saw the incident or the way either vehicle was driven before the collision to get in touch with Dorset Police right away.

 


“Any drivers with dash cams installed who were in the vicinity and may have recorded material that could be useful to our investigation are also welcome to get in touch with me.

“Lastly, I want to express my gratitude to the public for their understanding and tolerance throughout the road closure. This made it possible for us to treat the casualties and carry out a full examination of the scene.”
