Wycombe told to make Bolton ‘a significant offer’ for Aaron Morley in January
The 24-year-old has been a tremendous hit since joining the Chairboys on loan in August, as the Adams Park team has swept into the automatic spots in League One, he has started 15 of his 16 league games in the middle of the park.
But Bolton has made it “clear” that Wycombe would need to make a “significant offer” the following month if Morley were to stay in South Buckinghamshire.
If not, he will go back to the Toughsheet Stadium because the reported fee is about £500,000.
Morley paid £100,000 to join Bolton in January 2022.
“I was really clear with what our stance is,” manager Ian Evatt told the Bolton News.
He just won’t stay there on loan, in our opinion, so if they want to keep him, they must give us a big offer.
Unless they make us an offer that we believe fulfills his valuation, we will recall him and he will remain a member of our club and squad.
“Now that I’ve informed them of our valuation, it is up to them to meet it or not.”
Morley has made 20 appearances for the Chairboys as a number six, which has helped Josh Scowen advance.
This has proven crucial to Wycombe’s season, as the team has scored 43 goals so far, the most in the division, and the biggest goal differential (+21).
In the most recent 5-0 thumping against Stockport County, he also put himself on the scoresheet by scoring Wanderers’ fifth goal.
Evatt added: “Some of the things he needed to improve on, in my opinion, he has done.
“He is playing with confidence and that was important, that he found confidence again.
“But as we know, it is a completely different pressure playing for Wycombe than Bolton.
“The expectations are completely different, the amount of fans we have, and pressures of the big games.”
It has also been suggested that Morley ‘loves’ it at Wycombe, and has become a popular member of the squad.
He is expected to return to the team for the clash against Stevenage on Boxing Day.
