Blackburn Rovers

Wigan Athletic midfielder chooses to join Blackburn Rovers rather than Nottingham Forest.

According to sources on Thursday, Rovers are still interested in signing the Latics player, while Alan Nixon’s Patreon reported on Sunday that Nottingham Forest is pursuing the offensive midfielder ahead of the January transfer window.

According to estimates, Aasgaard costs £3 million. The League One squad is trying to hang onto one of their most important players next month as they attempt to avoid dropping to the fourth division following a dismal first four months of play.

Blackburn have had an outstanding first-half of the campaign, and are 5th in the Championship table, with five wins in the last five matches.

John Eustace has had great success since the summer, despite losing Sammie Szmodics to Ipswich Town, and they look like a team that is more complete after battling against relegation in 2023/24.

“Under John Eustace, Blackburn Rovers are having a wonderful season. They want to improve their team for the second half of the season and keep going.

“They want to bolster their team during the January transfer window in order to maintain their offensive and finish the season in the play-offs or higher because they are in fifth place, which is a play-off position.

One player they are interested in is Thelo Aasgaard of Wigan Athletic. Several football clubs are taking a keen interest in him. According to reports, Nottingham Forest is quite interested in the offensive midfield talent. He plays for Norway’s Under-21 team and is well-liked.

Given Nottingham Forest’s involvement, it is extremely, extremely, extremely difficult to see him staying at Wigan. Aasgaard has the capacity to make things happen in the last third, and Eustace wants to have a successful January transfer window to help them get started.

Given that Rovers have one of the lowest scores among the top six, it makes obvious that they are attempting to infuse their team with some originality.

“Aasgaard doesn’t want to leave Wigan and miss out on playing time, but Eustiace has stated that he wants to bolster the team in the coming year.

He doesn’t want to go to Nottingham Forest, where he won’t play regular football or get playing time, therefore he believes Blackburn is in a strong position to sign him since, of course, he will play regularly if he joins Blackburn Rovers.”

Of course, the issue is that you are loaned out from Premier League clubs even if you are aware that Premier League earnings are higher. Given how well Blackburn Rovers are performing under Eustace, I believe they have a chance to sign the player.

“But there’s no denying that everyone aspires to play in the Premier League. We’ll have to wait and see how that turns out, then.

Blackburn’s league position will help their chances of bringing Aasgaard to Ewood Park, and Eustace has once again proven his ability as a manager to get teams into positions that they should perhaps not be in.

However, this early success has not gone without problems, and one of the greatest problems that the former Birmingham City manager has had involves Tyrhys Dolan, with the 22-year-old yet to sign a new contract.

His current contract is set to expire in the summer, and because he has shown no signs of signing, Aasgaard might be the ideal man to take Dolan’s position should he decide to depart.

He would be a great addition in the upcoming years and has comparable skills to the current Blackburn ace, however he may be more clinical.
