What Will Become of Anfernee? These are Three Captivating Locations
After their group of players failed to produce results last season, the Portland Trail Blazers have decided to embark on a complete overhaul.
It made sense for Joe Cronin and the front office to cut loose the remaining older players on the team and focus on developing Scoot Henderson because the guys on the roster are mostly rookies who haven’t even played three years in the NBA.
The team needs to identify a trade partner that would take Anfernee Simons, in addition to searching for potential suitors who would be willing to take Jerami Grant off their hands.
Although the 24-year-old shooting guard has shown himself to be a reliable member of the Blazers over the last several seasons, it’s obvious that he is behind schedule with the reconstruction.
The onus is now on the Blazers to locate a team to replace him. Reese Kunz of Rip City Project has identified potential teams with which Cronin can negotiate good terms for a reliable scorer.
But Kunz noted that if the Raptors acquire Simons, they will have a defensive problem since Quickley and Simons would form an incredibly small backcourt.
The Portland Trail Blazers might give Simons up to provide some much-needed scoring to relieve some of the strain on their stars. The Purple and Gold are desperate for any kind of support for LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Simons would be a perfect fit for the Raptors because three of their key players, RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, and Scottie Barnes, are about the same age. With Simons, Toronto’s attack will gain a fascinating component that might make them a title contender in the coming years.
Although the Magic don’t receive a lot of media attention, they have quietly assembled a talented team that participated in some postseason play last year. Simons is about the same age as the team’s nucleus, so his addition will make them the greatest underdogs in the East right away.
