West Brom reach agreement in principle for Carlos Corberan’s exit – Approval needed from Baggies owner
After splitting from Ruben Baraja on Monday, Valencia is attempting to sign Carlos Corberan, the manager of West Bromwich Albion.
According to Tuesday’s Marca, Corberan and the La Liga team have come to an arrangement.
According to the report, Los Ches have notified West Brom that they will activate the €2.8 million release clause in the Spaniard’s contract.
He ought to join Valencia and sign a contract through 2027 if there aren’t any last-minute surprises. Marca add his current assistants at the Championship side, Jorge Alarcon, Rafa Aranda and Damia should also follow Corberan to Mestalla.
Over at AS, they state the manager has £2m [€2.4m] release clause in his Baggies deal. The Spanish club are not planning to trigger the clause and instead negotiate a deal with West Brom.
Valencia negotiated with West Brom from Monday afternoon and reached an agreement in principle late night for a fee close to his clause. They are waiting for the Championship side’s American owners to give the approval, after outlining an agreement with Corberan.
AS indicates this could arrive in the next few hours as today is the ‘key day’ for Valencia to close the deal for Corberan.
Although there’s conflicting claims about the clause, Los Ches have made advances in appointing Corberan as their next manager.
