Emergency services are on the scene after a serious crash on highway in Redcar. Ongoing since this morning, with the road expected to remain closed until this evening.
The Coast Road has been closed off in both directions after a ‘serious’ incident involving multiple cars.
The closure is from the Teesside coastal Road between Redcar and Marske at about 7:30 am today.
Police are asking people to avoid the area.

The closure is from the Teesside coastal Road between Redcar and Marske at about 7:30 am the collision happened when a navy blue Peugeot 106, travelling towards Redcar, careered across the road into the path of a gold Fiat Punto.
It is understood the Peugeot driver, a man in his 20s, was killed in the smash.
The Punto driver was airlifted to James Cook University Hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
One eyewitness, who asked not to be named, described the tragic crash scene as ‘horrific’.
“The front of the Punto was completely smashed in and the passenger side of the Peugeot had been crushed into the driver’s side of the car,” she said.
“The side of the road was covered in debris and there were skid marks which went for about 100 yards.
“There was a CD case in the road which had been flung from the car in the impact. It was horrific.”
Crash investigation officers cordoned off the stretch of road and were speaking to witnesses at the scene.
South Central Ambulance has confirmed it is working at the scene with colleagues from the fire service and Air Ambulance teams from the Thames Valley and Hampshire.
