Road near Skipton is closed due to a "serious crash."
A major road near Skipton remains shut on wednesday morning as accident investigation work takes place.
While emergency personnel are on the scene, North Yorkshire Police have roped off the A59 just outside Skipton on the Broughton side, close to The Bull bar. Drivers have been advised by the force to take an alternate route.
“Main road closed,” a police spokeswoman stated. A severe incident has resulted in the closure of the A59 on the Broughton side just outside of Skipton.
Between the A59/A629/A65 roundabout and the intersection for the A6069/A59 right next to it, there is no vehicular access.Gargrave (on Gargrave Road) will not be able to access the A59.
Please be aware that due to a height limitation on the bridge, HGVs taller than 14.9 feet are not permitted to drive up the A682 Hellifield to Gisburn. Please find alternate routes as the road may need to remain blocked for several hours. We’ll try to notify you when it reopens.
