A two-vehicle collision on a rural Norfolk County road has claimed the lives of two Simcoe residents.

Around 9:55 a.m. on Saturday, emergency personnel arrived at the scene of a collision between an SUV and pickup truck in Townsend, which is just outside of Waterford.

According to a news release from the OPP, the SUV’s 78-year-old driver and its 73-year-old passenger were declared dead at the scene on Cockshutt Road and Concession 3.

After being examined by paramedics, the pickup driver was released with minor injuries.

The collision is being looked into by the OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team.

Man dead after hit-and-run crash in Norfolk

Early on Saturday morning, the Norfolk Police Department arrived to the scene of a car accident in the 3800 block of Robin Hood Road.

According to Norfolk police, a man died in a collision on Robin Hood Road early on Saturday morning.

Police were called to an automobile accident on the 3800 block of Robin Hood Road at 2:10 in the morning.

Deante J. Fields, 30, was found with potentially fatal injuries when police arrived. After receiving treatment at a neighboring hospital, Fields passed away from his wounds.

According to authorities, preliminary investigations showed that Fields had struck two other cars before the collision, making it a hit-and-run.

Anyone with information on this accident is urged to call the Norfolk Crime Line, according to investigators.
