Three jailed to life sentence or on death row in Ramsgate
Three guys who were detained in a major cannabis farm in Ramsgate have been imprisoned.
On Wednesday, May 1, Kent Police executed a search warrant at a residence on Leigh Road, which is off Haine Road. Inside, they discovered three men.
After they were all taken into custody, the location was searched, and over 1,700 cannabis plants were found.
According to police estimates, the site’s owner would have made more than £1 million from it.
Afterwards, the unfixed-address holders Tom Doku, Arvaniti Ilirjan, and Ervin Zenelaj were accused of cultivating marijuana and fraudulently obtaining energy.
Yesterday, August 15, at Canterbury Crown Court, all three men entered pleas to both charges and received sentences.
Doku, 48, served a one-year and nine-month sentence in prison; Ilirjan, 43, and Zenelaj, 33, were given one-year sentences each.
“The money made from sites of this kind invariably ends up in the hands of criminal groups who bring misery and disorder to our communities,” stated Detective Inspector Sheena Barrell.
“We will therefore search for and shut down these sites with utmost vigor in order to deprive criminal groups of the funding they provide.”
