Three Chelsea transfers are affected by the breakdown of the Marc Guehi to Newcastle United agreement.

After weeks of talks, there are benefits and drawbacks for Chelsea and Newcastle if Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace is not signed before the summer transfer window shuts.

Given that Marc Guehi is expected to remain at Crystal Palace this summer rather than go with Newcastle United, Chelsea will lose out on approximately £12 million.

Because Guehi, 24, is staying at Selhurst Park, the Blues will not be compensated with the twenty percent sell-on charge when he moves on. They are free to match any offers made for the player because of a clause from the £18 million contract that sent the defender to south London three years ago.

Given that talks between Newcastle and Palace have been ongoing for the majority of this month, Chelsea has decided not to do so this summer. However, it is rumored that they will now have to wait to receive that possible windfall from the Eagles, since the Magpies are claimed to have abruptly ended talks.

It also seems that Palace’s prospects of signing Trevoh Chalobah are diminished by keeping Guehi. Even though the Daily Mail and Wolfsburg agreed on a £17.5 million transfer fee for Maxence Lacroix, the central defender is still reportedly being pursued.

After Joachim Andersen signed a contract with Fulham earlier this month, it appears that the former France youth international will take his place. Due to probable ligament damage in his knee, Chadi Riad left Palace’s midweek Carabao Cup second-round match early. As a result, Palace will be without a central defensive option for their Sunday afternoon Premier League meeting at Stamford Bridge.

Chalobah might be one of the two center backs they sign before the deadline, according to rumors. However, if that doesn’t happen, a relocation to Newcastle might happen.
