Swindon Town have announced the signing of chesterfield defender
Defensor Jeff King has signed with Swindon Town, the club announced.
Before joining Bolton Wanderers, King, a native of Liverpool, started his football career in non-league play. In an EFL Cup encounter against West Ham United in September 2017, he made his professional debut.
Throughout his career, King played in the Scottish Premiership before joining FC Halifax Town of the National League in August 2019.
King made 68 appearances and scored seven goals in two seasons, good enough to win the club’s Player of the Season Award and secure a berth on the 2020–2021 National League Team of the Season.
At the beginning of the 2021–22 season, Chesterfield signed him after being impressed with his performances.
King played a part in Chesterfield’s last-season promotion to League Two. With nearly 100 games played and 13 goals scored, he was once again named to the National League Team of the Year for 2022–2023.
King remarked, “From the moment I came in last week, I felt really at home straight away and had a great feeling about it,” expressing his excitement about joining Swindon. I’m eager to get started here and am now quite thrilled about what lies ahead.”
“My goal is to be a part of this team and hopefully have some history here, so that I can help a big club move up the leagues.” I genuinely hope I can succeed with Swindon because I feel like I have a little more to give and have worked so hard to get here.
