Star Ipswich Trying To Sign Still In Training With Club

Sammie Szmodics is still training with the Blackburn Rovers squad amidst talk of him joining Ipswich Town imminently this summer,

For a Blackburn team that placed last in the league, the 28-year-old forward led the team in scoring.

Although he has been one of Ipswich’s main targets, the negotiations with Blackburn have not gone as well as anticipated.

Although Blackburn had been requesting additional funding, Szmodics’ departure was anticipated given that the team was getting close to signing Senegalese striker Makhtar Gueye.

Despite rumors of his transfer, the forward has been practicing with the rest of the Blackburn team today.

Ipswich and Blackburn are still in talks about the forward possibly moving to Portman Road.

The striker’s trip to Ipswich for a medical appears to still be pending the completion of a definitive agreement.

He is someone Kieran McKenna is pushing to sign in order to assemble a team that will be competitive in the

Premier League the following year.

In order to get Ireland international Sammie Szmodics in time for the upcoming Premier League season, Ipswich Town will move forward with the signing this week.
Szmodics was left off of Blackburn Rovers’ roster for their preseason friendly against Wigan on Saturday because the team did not want to take a chance on an injury to a player who is anticipated to go before the season begins.

Blackburn valued Szmodics at an ambitious £20 million, and Ipswich’s bid of £6 million was reportedly rejected last week. However, talks are still ongoing, as Kieran McKenna, the manager of Ipswich, is keen to integrate new faces well before the Premier League season begins.

When questioned why Szmodics was not present for the weekend friendly, Blackburn manager John Eustace responded to the Lancashire Telegraph, saying, “There has been interest from clubs and they’re talking again.” It is the same kind of circumstance. Since I’m only the team’s coach, I have no idea if he will stay or go. It is unrelated to me. He should stay, in my opinion. Talking between the two teams, there was no reason to put him at risk. We’ll see how that goes since he’s a good footballer and a very fit young man.

In preparation for their return to the top division, Ipswich has already added five players, but McKenna still has Szmodics as a major objective. Liam Delap is the only senior forward that has been added.

“We are putting forth a lot of effort. We’re all working extremely hard on it because we know we need to add a lot more players to build a group capable of competing in Premier League matches.
