Sean Dyche left shocked after hearing what he’s now being criticised for at Everton
The Friedkin Group could take over Everton next week with the American billionaire hoping to be in ahead of the January transfer window.
Questions will be asked when the new owners land at Goodison on what changes need to be made around the club to pull themselves out of their rut.
It is already expected the Friedkins will sack Dyche and Kevin Thelwell from Everton in the New Year with their own plans in place.
His own future is not the only concern for Dyche with the 53-year-old admitting he was shocked to receive some criticism recently.
The Toffees are in the middle of a seriously difficult run of fixtures which could really hinder their bid to climb the table.
There was some rest bite for the Blues over the weekend with the Merseyside Derby postponed due to Storm Darragh.
However, Dyche has admitted he was shocked to hear criticism come his way after his comments on Pep Guardiola’s recent struggles with Manchester City.
“I think you’ve got to learn to relish all parts of the Premier League, you know, in all the different situations, the conundrums that can come up,” said Dyche.
“And I think that’s part and parcel of the joy and the strength of the Premier League, you know, is that diversity and how these the groups of games come for each different side.
“You know, I said recently, it’s been our question at the moment, for this tough run, there’ll be another team out there that hits a tough run.
“Some of the big clubs I mentioned, strangely, I got a bit of stick for it, trying to mention the Pep’s [Guardiola] on a tough run. You know, tough runs can come out of nowhere. I certainly wasn’t questioning Pep Guardiola, I can assure you of that!”
Although this criticism may not have been coming from those on Merseyside, Everton fans have criticised Dyche heavily this season.
And if results are not to pick up ahead of the Friedkins taking on the club, it could well make for a very easy decision for the proposed new owners.
Unfortunately for Dyche, the expected new owners on Merseyside are likely to mark the end of his tenure at the club.
The Friedkins are eyeing David Moyes to make a sensational return to Goodison as they plot their next move after sacking Dyche.
And on Thursday, Dyche provided some words on the pending change of hands at the top of the club.
“Obviously it’s not been so helpful with the ownership changeover because you’ve got to wait and see what the new owners want to do and what their situation is should they come and take the club, which is looking very possible like it’s going to happen. But, until it’s done, it’s not done,” said Dyche.
There is one thing which the 53-year-old does deserve credit for as Dyche welcomed the young Australian fan to Finch Farm and provided him a moment to remember.
