Preston North End linked man now reportedly a free agent target for Crystal Palace and Leicester City
A possible move to Deepdale for the free agency forward was the subject of transfer rumors in November. By mutual consent, Kent’s contract with Fenerbahce was terminated, and he will be free to sign with another team in January.
Leicester City, Crystal Palace, and Ipswich Town are reportedly interested in the 28-year-old, who was a key member of Rangers during his four seasons there. With the Foxes and Eagles “in the race,” the Tractor Boys apparently think Kent can help them improve their offense.
Kent made 47 appearances for the Tykes in 2016–17 while being managed by Preston manager Paul Heckingbottom at Barnsley. Last year, when Heckingbottom was still in command at Bramall Lane, he was linked to Sheffield United. However, he downplayed last week’s hints of a potential transfer to PNE.
“I keep getting asked about that,” he told the Lancashire Post. He’s someone I know well, and I spoke to him a few summers ago, but I’m not sure where. It had been years since I had spoken to him. I had a video call with him when he initially traveled to Turkey.
But hear me out: I have plenty of time for him as a young man. I believe he is misunderstood, yet he is a good boy. But what a wonderful child.
The best way to probably put it is that I’ve not got a clue what he is doing at the minute and have not been following. So, that probably tells you a lot.
