Police arrest a fraudster following the closing of a bridal boutique. With the abrupt closure of a bridal boutique, a lady has been detained on suspicion of fraud by false representation.
La Belle Boutique, located at Huthwaite Road in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, closed on July 21. According to clients, they were notified by email.
La Belle Boutique has given Strong Anderson, an insolvency practitioner firm, instructions to put the business into liquidation, a representative for the firm informed the BBC.
A 36-year-old lady was reportedly interviewed by Nottinghamshire Police before being released on bond.
“We’re still investigating,” a police official said.
Clients had previously informed the BBC that they were left out of money, often by four-figure amounts, and that they were unable to access the garments they had paid for.
Among them was Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire resident Kelly Lee, 39, who stated:
“I was really upset and crying to the bank, who told me they couldn’t help me because I’d paid by bank transfer.”
Strong Anderson has previously stated that it was assembling a report for creditors and looking into the number of brides who were impacted.
