Olympic claims that Warriors supporters will find interesting
Everything gets better with a win, especially if you’re forward Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns. Even though he has a persistent calf ailment, Durant just produced an explosive scoring performance in a win over Serbia while competing for Team USA in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. With 23 points on 8-9 shooting and two rebounds in 17 minutes as a substitute, Durant led all teams in scoring.
Even though Durant has received criticism on social media for his outburst, the former great player for the Golden State Warriors is enjoying himself on the court, which is something he hasn’t done in a long time.
On the most recent episode of The Hoop Collective, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst discussed Durant’s Olympic outburst, saying, “Durant was absolutely miserable, abjectly miserable, when he was out and not playing.”
Co-host Tim Bontemps chimed in, “There are a few people that like things more than Kevin Durant likes playing basketball.” “When he’s not playing hoops, he gets really cranky.”
“I’m talking about the nights when he won championships, too. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen Kevin happier than he was on Sunday night,” Windhorst went on. “He won 4-0 and 4-1 when he won those titles with the Warriors. They were aware of their victory. It didn’t really surprise him because he had become accustomed to the concept that he would soon become a champion.
It may come as a surprise to some that Durant didn’t take the two championships and two MVP awards from Golden State as a surprise.
But with Durant in the lineup, Warriors supporters felt that their winning approach was methodical. In their prime, Durant, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green were a formidable combination that no team could really overcome.
In the 2017 NBA Finals, the Cleveland Cavaliers did indeed steal a game. However, Golden State maintained a comfortable lead against Cleveland, demonstrating how winning became second nature. However, Durant lost some of that fire along the road.
