Nottingham Forest considered sacking Nuno twice, Marinakis wanted title boss
Baris Alper Yilmaz and Semih Kilicsoy are both reportedly on Nottingham Forest's radar, but the pair are also attracting interest from across the Premier League and Europe
According to reports, Nottingham Forest is vying with a number of Premier League teams for the signings of two attackers who represent Turkey.
CaughtOffside claims that Forest is interested in Semih Kilicsoy, a teenager from Besiktas, and Baris Alper Yilmaz of Galatasaray. If Forest were to make a play for them in January, they would both be huge signings, valued at roughly €25–30 million (£21–25 million).
Right-sided winger Yilmaz, 24, has long been discussed as one of Turkey’s brightest talents, and he’s had a quick start to this season, scoring four goals in Galatasaray’s first six Super Lig games. A Forest scout was said to be in attendance for the derby against Fenerbahce on Saturday, but Tottenham and Brighton are also hovering.
Kilicsoy, only just turned 19, is a much newer talent, albeit the fast start to his career saw him included in Turkey’s Euro 2024 squad. The teenager, who plays up front or off the left wing, scored 12 goals in all competitions last season and has a couple of assists to his name this term. Aston Villa and Fulham are said to be keen too, while there’s reported interest in him from across Europe.
Forest is undoubtedly well-established outside. Callum Hudson-Odoi, Anthony Elanga, Ramon Sosa, Jota Silva, and Morgan Gibbs-White all available for Nuno Espirito Santo to use.
In the short term, the hunt for a striker might pick back up in January. During the summer, Forest pursued Eddie Nketiah and Santiago Gimenez, but neither player signed, leaving them with Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi as their primary strike options.
