New Era! Ellis Taylor, makes a lasting impression for Harrogate Town

Ellis Taylor, a former Sunderland winger, has established himself at Harrogate Town quickly.

The 21-year-old, who spent more than ten years with the Wearsiders before being released, made an impression as a trialist before joining the Sulphurites earlier this summer.

On his first competitive start for his new squad in midweek, he brilliantly set up his teammate Sam Folarin for the opening goal of a Carabao Cup shock of Lincoln City by slipping past a few defenders.

During Town’s exciting 3-3 draw against Accrington Stanley on Saturday afternoon, Taylor went one better, curling home a skillful left-footed effort from the edge of the box to give Town a 2-1 lead.

The former Black Cat is eager to carry on in the upcoming weeks after scoring his first goal in senior football.

“I feel so proud,” he uttered. “Obviously, I’ve dreamed of scoring a goal for a living since I was a young child. However, I believe I must now continue the momentum.

“I have to keep going and contribute more. With any lucky, one will bring two, and two will bring three, and so on. That’s the intention.

It is desirable to score that first goal, particularly thus early in the season. It is not desirable to find yourself seven, eight, or nine games into a game and still not have scored your first goal.
