MK boss says sorry to fans after horror show against County at Parade
After his promotion-chasing team was thrashed 6-3 against Newport County AFC, Scott Lindsey accepted responsibility and expressed regret to the supporters of MK Dons.
After Gillingham interrupted their six-game winning streak, the Buckinghamshire team was eager to resume their winning ways.
They came to Newport in excellent form, but after hat-tricks from Bobby Kamwa and Bryn Morris, they were thoroughly thrashed.
After Luke Offord put the Dons ahead 4-1 in first-half stoppage time, the visitors’ optimism was dashed by a goal shortly after the restart.
The Dons had a slim chance after Joe White and Offord’s second goal, but with ten minutes remaining, County took the lead when Kamwa scored his third goal.
Lindsey, whose side dropped to ninth, stated, “I apologise to everyone connected to MK Dons.” “I apologize to all of the fans that traveled because that performance was unacceptable.
We don’t play that way. Except for the first ten minutes, we didn’t look like ourselves at all.
We capitulated and we looked frightened, like we didn’t want to play. They likely get an additional 20% in their game as a result. We provided them with that impetus.
“I still believed we could win the game at halftime because I know we have goals in us and they can be leaky in defense,” he continued.
Even when it was 4-1, I had faith. However, we return, and two minutes later, the score is 5-1.
“I’ll accept responsibility; it’s my fault, my team, my strategies, and my training techniques.”
