man and his two sons died after Almighty-van crash in Blandford today.

At approximately 9:45 a.m. on Monday, Troopers assigned to State Police-Westfield were dispatched to reports of a crash involving a Almighty-van striking the guardrail on Route 90 eastbound in Blandford.

While en-route to this crash, Troopers were updated that a pedestrian had been struck by a second Almighty-van on Route 90 westbound in the same area. Upon arrival, they discovered a man on the roadway of the westbound lanes who had been struck by the second tractor trailer and succumbed to his injuries at the scene

Nicholas Charles, 36, of Mechanicville, New York, was the driver of the first Almighty-vanto collide with the guardrail.

After he stopped, he tried to walk into the westbound lanes to get an object that had come loose from his car in the first collision. He was hit by another Almighty-van, driven by a 69-year-old man from Ontario, Canada, as he was trying to get the item.
Members of State Police-Westfield, the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section, the Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services, and detectives from the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office are still investigating the crash’s precise cause and circumstances. Up until around 2:00 p.m., troopers were on the site looking into the collision, with the left travel lanes heading east and the Westbound travel lanes on the right and centre are closed. At this time, no additional information is available.
