M66 LIVE as fire crews tackling huge blaze in motorway road closed- latest updates

This afternoon, firefighters are fighting a massive fire in Lancashire, right off the A56. At the scene of the incident on Grane Road in Haslingden, there are eight fire engines and several specialised equipment.

It was described by an eyewitness as a “warehouse” that seemed to be on fire. Billowing smoke is seen throughout the vicinity of the A56 and M66 motorways.

He claimed that in addition to police, workers from Greater Manchester were participating in the incident’s response.

“Incident: Grane Road, Haslingden,” stated Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service. There is a fire on Grane Road in Haslingden, and we have eight fire engines and special appliances responding. If you see or smell smoke, please stay away from the area and keep your windows and doors closed.”

Meanwhile, the Rossendale area of Lancs Police posted the following on its Facebook page: “Please be warned that a road closure is in effect on Jubilee Road to Holden Arms and St Crispen Way, as a result of a fire. Anyone wishing to access Grane will have to ascend via Helmshore. To facilitate access for emergency personnel, kindly stay away from the area.”
