Leicester City are on the verge of signing Yaser Asprilla from Watford, according to reports.

The Colombian attacker signed with Watford in the summer of 2022 after leaving Envigado, the same team that gave birth to Jhon Duran, the striker for Aston Villa. Last season, he stood out with six goals and seven assists in 44 Championship games.

Asprilla, who is only 20 years old and has already scored two goals in six appearances for his nation, is nearing the end of his contract.

Given his success in the second division the previous season, his youthful age, and his Colombian exploits thus far, it’s not unexpected that several teams are pursuing Asprilla this summe

Asprilla is rumored to have been courted by French team Rennes, but Foot Mercato reporter Sebastien Denis claims Leicester City has emerged victorious in the race to recruit him.

According to Denis, Asprilla is “on his way” to Leicester, where his representative is currently negotiating a contract worth up to €25 million (£21.3 million) while in England.

It has been widely known that Leicester has been looking to bolster their forward line in anticipation of their Premier League comeback this summer. The Argentine sensation Matias Soule chose to sign with Roma instead of Juventus, hence the 2023–24 Championship winners were not able to secure his services.

Should Asprilla complete his King Power Stadium transfer, he will face competition from recent additions Issahaku Fatawu and Bobby De Cordova-Reid for a starting spot in Steve Cooper’s squad. Asprilla is a left-footed winger who plays from the right.

Yaser Asprilla, a 20-year-old who plays for Watford and is Colombian, is supposedly close to joining Leicester City; according to Sebastien Denis on X, the player is “on his way” to Leicestershire.

In spite of a firm offer from Stade Rennais, the winger has decided to switch to the King Power.

The Foxes are now the front-runners to recruit the teenage attacker, despite reports that they would have to “fight it out with Champions League side Porto, whilst Ligue 1 outfit Rennes have also shown interest in signing the attacker.”

Estimated compensation for the young player with six Colombian caps is around £21 million.
