A crash involving three vehicles partially blocked the Medway Tunnel in Rochester resulting in heavy traffic. Officers from Kent Police were called to the scene on the Strood-bound carriageway of the A289 between Maritime Way, near the University of Kent, and Anthonys Way, by Upnor Roundabout, shortly before 7.30 am.

The collision had partially blocked the busy route between Rochester and Strood, leading to heavy congestion and long delays persisting throughout the morning. At the incident’s peak, traffic and travel monitoring service Inrix reported queues stretching back as far as The Strand roundabout.
