Since making his international debut in February 2016, the 62-year-old former West Indies captain has also officiated in 52 Test matches, 106 Twenty20 Internationals, eight Women’s ODIs, and 15 Women’s T20Is.
“This is Richie’s third major accomplishment in recent months, and he deserves all the attention that he is receiving,” said Sean Easey, Senior Manager of Umpires and Referees at ICC.
In his capacity as an ICC Match Referee, Richie has made excellent use of his background as a player and team manager, officiating with remarkable poise across the globe and winning the respect of all parties involved.
His presence on our Elite Panel is a blessing. I wish Richie the very best on his 100th ODI and many more honors in the years to come on behalf of the ICC.
Richie Richardson: “It’s a wonderful moment for me to reach 100 ODIs because it comes shortly after I completed 50 Test matches and 100 T20Is. Even though I’ve never been the kind to strive for records or milestones, they do provide an opportunity to reflect on your journey.
“Just like I used to always feel privileged to be representing the West Indies as a cricket player, I have had a very fulfilling time working as a match referee and take great satisfaction in my work.
I want to use this chance to express my gratitude to Cricket West Indies and the International Cricket Council for their support. For all of their help over the years, I am also grateful to my loved ones.
