Horror crash lead to road block on M62 westbound between junctions J24 and J22
A collision involving multiple vehicles this afternoon as resulted in a temporary closure of a freeway.
Traffic is increasing in the area, but emergency personnel are on the scene and there are detours in place.
A multi-vehicle traffic collision has closed the M66 northbound between the M60/M62 Junction and J3 (Bury).
On the scene are the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, North West Ambulance Service, North West Motorway Police Group, and National Highways Traffic Officers.
According to a Greater Manchester Police spokesman, police, as well as North West Ambulance Service, are responding to a four-car incident on the route.
“At about 8.15pm on Sunday, August 25, fire crews were called to reports of a road traffic collision on the M66 northbound between junctions 3 and 4 near Bury,” a Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) spokeswoman stated.
“The technical rescue team from Ashton and three fire engines from Bury, Whitefield, and Heywood were swiftly dispatched to the scene, which comprised four vehicles.
“Firefighters and other blue light services are still on the scene.”
“At approximately 20:00, reports were received of a multi-vehicle traffic collision on the M66 northbound, to which an immediate multi-agency response was initiated to the scene,” a National Highways North West spokesman stated.
