Four killed in horror and terrrible crash on A63 near Hull in Barnsley
In a horrifying collision involving a stolen BMW from Barnsley that was driven the wrong way along a dual carriageway, four people perished.
An inquiry was held to determine the identities of the deceased, who included a triathlete and a “devoted” mother who were riding in a different automobile in addition to the three young men who were in the stolen car.
Hull Coroner’s Court was informed that keen triathlete Alison Clark, 42, sustained catastrophic injuries in a head-on collision on the A63 near Hull on November 22, 2021, while on her way home from a swim training session.
The hearing was informed on Monday that the mother of one had started a mourning walking club following the passing of her father and had participated in a walking event the day before she was slain.
The inquest heard that Sam Connors, 19, William Harty, 20, and Lawrence James, 21, who were riding in the white BMW, also perished in the collision.
Assistant Coroner Ian Sprakes began the 10-day trial by providing the jurors with a brief explanation of how police had pursued the BMW until it turned onto the incorrect slipway and headed toward the westbound carriageway of the A63 close to North Ferriby.
According to Mr. Sprakes, the BMW traveled 1.3 miles in the wrong direction toward Hull before slamming into Mrs. Clark’s Peugeot, a resident of Elloughton, East Yorkshire.
