Former Hull FC forward Lennon Bursell has signed for Goole Vikings. The 19-year-old is capable of playing across the pack and is the ninth new signing at the East Yorkshire club who have been granted entry into the League 1 competition for the 2025 season.

Bursell, who is eager to continue improving, acknowledges that the opportunity to work with former Hull teammate Scott Taylor was too good to pass up. Taylor will also be joining the team to work with players like Jamie Shaul.

“I’ve known Scott for a while now, and I think he will be fantastic for me to learn from,” Bursell remarked in reference to his move. The offer was simply too excellent to pass up when Scott and the club made it.

“I was much inspired to write down their vision and the direction they wish to take this group. I think the club can succeed with the players we are assembling, and the thrill of something new and different has truly helped me rediscover my love for rugby league.

“As a younger team member, I must contribute a lot of effort and hard work, and I have a never-ending desire to get better. I’m eager to get going.”

Taylor, meantime, thinks Bursell has the ability to succeed at Goole and might eventually make it to the Super League. “He has a great attitude, is very professional, and truly wants to improve his game,” he continued. “Lennon is a great kid and one of the first names we had on our target list.”

“He hasn’t quite reached the stage of his career where he is prepared for the Super League, but he is growing well, staying in good physical condition, and over time, he might be one of those players who blossoms later than most. He has an amazing work rate and plays across the pack, so he will be a terrific addition to our team.
