Former Derby County striker linked with shock move to League One spenders
Former Derby County striker Patrick Bamford has been connected to a surprise transfer to Wrexham, an ambitious League One team.
The Leeds United forward, who has also drawn interest from Serie A team Genoa, is reportedly of interest to the Welsh team, according to Teamtalk.
Despite the wealth at his disposal, Daniel Farke wants to strengthen the Whites’ offense, which is why Bamford hasn’t started a single Championship game this season.
Ambitious Wrexham, owned by Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds, are now said to be keen on doing a deal although his reported £40,000-a-week wages may prove a significant barrier.
Teamtalk claims that Bamford has discussed his lack of playing time with Farke and is weighing his options ahead of the forthcoming transfer window.
However, it is emphasized that Leeds must find a replacement in order to strengthen their promotion campaign before Bamford is permitted to leave Elland Road. Before joining Chelsea and going on loan to Derby in 2014, Bamford began his career with Nottingham Forest.
The attacker performed admirably, scoring eight goals in 21 league games before going on loan to Middlesbrough, Norwich, and Crystal Palace. In 2017, he made a permanent move to Boro, then a year later, for a reported £7 million, he moved on to Leeds.
He has since scored 56 goals in 183 league games for the Whites, but this season he hasn’t been able to establish himself as a mainstay in Leeds’ front line.
