The Saddlers have secured some more firepower as they look to continue their strong start to the season.
Nathan Lowe, a striker for Stoke City, has officially joined Walsall. He will be loaned to the Poundland Bescot Stadium for the entire season. The eighteen-year-old Lowe, who came through the Everton and Stoke City academy systems, joins WS1 after making seventeen appearances for the Potters throughout the tournament. Nathan, an England Under-19 player, debuted for the adult team in February 2023 and scored his first goal as a professional in September of the same year.
In addition to having made several appearances and scored goals for Stoke’s Under 21 and Under 18 teams, Lowe will provide the Saddlers, who have already bolstered their roster with the addition of West Brom player Reues Cleary, even more offensive capability. Head Coach Mat Sadler greeted Nathan to the team via the team’s official website, saying, “I’m really looking forward to working with Nathan.” It has been ongoing for some time.I thought we had it the week before the season began, but sadly, Stoke got hurt and they weren’t able to let him play at that time. Nevertheless, they’ve been great to work with and have kept us informed, so we sincerely appreciate that.
enabling us to complete this one.”I’m aware that several League One teams were vying with us for Nathan’s signature, but our relationship with him and the fact that Tommy and Dave are on board have helped us move up the waiting list in that regard. He has both experienced and achieved victory in the championship. “He’s a strong runner but he can also hold the ball up and he comes alive in the penalty area.”
During the 23/24 season, the Potters Academy graduate made 15 appearances and scored his debut goal in spectacular fashion against Bristol City in the 90th minute.
After making his City debut in February 2023, the 18-year-old inked a new four-and-a-half-year deal with the team in January.
“Nathan is a player of significant promise, and we as a Club are fully invested in managing his pathway as effectively as we can to ensure that he maximizes his potential,” stated Sporting Director Jon Walters.
“Playing football on a regular basis is the next logical step in Nathan’s growth as a player and a person.
It’s something we’ve always planned for him, and now is the ideal moment to take advantage of it.
“We wishing him the best of luck throughout his stay at Walsall and anticipating seeing how much he learns from the experience.
