Do you agree with Martin Keown saying “Viktor Gyokeres may not be the ideal striker for Arsenal to sign?
Some Gooners could contend that our Gunners could have easily won six points if Mikel Arteta had selected a top striker for the games against Fulham and Everton.
It’s obvious that our Gunners have had trouble scoring goals in open play.
Apart from Saka, the other Arsenal attackers haven’t created much of a threat. Some have said that if we had another attacking player as committed as the Arsenal #7, our attack may have performed better.
Although many attackers are being discussed, Victor Gyökeres is the one that the majority of Gooners believe the team would target.
Gyökeres has participated in 24 games for Sporting this season, tallying 26 goals and dishing out five assists. He demonstrated remarkable ability to overcome our top-tier defense when he arrived at the Emirates, and there is no question that he is a goal scorer.
Martin Keown has mentioned that Arsenal’s attackers really need to step up their game, or else Arteta will have a compelling reason to bring in a top striker in January.
“The players who are there at the moment need to start scoring goals fast don’t they otherwise Mikel will put his hands in his pocket and buy a forward,” Keown said .
Viktor Gyökeres may not be the best striker for Arsenal to acquire, in Keown’s opinion.
The Swedish forward’s actual speed worries him a little.
Regarding Gyokeres, he observed, “Not quick enough,” adding, “And he wouldn’t have been quick enough in my day.”
Given how quickly the Premier League moves, Arsenal’s decision to move forward with the Gyökeres deal may be a tad risky. It is interesting to note that Keown is not the only person warning Arsenal against pursuing Gyokeres.
Troy Deeney also voiced some skepticism over the Sporting CP striker’s innate finishing ability.
