Detroit Lions boss reveal injury updated for final after Trade agree
Here is the Detroit Lions’ final Week 8 injury report, complete with Sunday status updates.
The Detroit Lions are the overwhelming favorites over a 1-5 Tennessee Titans squad that appears ready to give up on the 2024 season when they make their sole trip back to Ford Field in a five-game period.
This is the Lions’ final Week 8 injury report.
DL Josh Paschal (illness)-Out OG Kevin Zeitler (groin)-Out OG Christian Mahogany (illness)-No designation
Resting C. Frank Ragnow: No title
OT Resting Taylor Decker: No title
No designation for OG Graham Glasgow (rest)
No designation for DL Levi Onwuzurike (rest)
Dan Campbell referred to the “bigs”—Decker, Ragnow, Glasgow, and Onwuzurike—as having a leisure day on Wednesday. On Thursday and Friday, all four were fully engaged, and on Sunday, none of them had any injuries.
After being listed the Thursday before due to a groin ailment, Zeitler missed Week 7 due to a hip issue. He will return to the starting lineup on Sunday at right guard after three consecutive complete sessions this week.
Due to illness, Paschal missed all three of this week’s practice days. He informed media on Friday that he would not be participating on Sunday. He told Ben Raven of MLive that it’s not a long-term issue, but it did come up during his yearly physical after receiving a cancer diagnosis while still in college.
In light of Paschal’s absence and the known ailments to Aidan Hutchinson and Marcus Davenport, this is the Lions’ defensive end depth chart as of Sunday’s game. On Sunday, edge rusher snaps are anticipated for rookie Mekhi Wingo and Onwuzurike.
Even after Paschal is healthy, there appears to be a strong incentive to trade for an edge rusher, and there appears to be a clear chance to showcase James Houston for a trade.
As his 21-day opportunity to join the 53-man roster comes to an end, Mahogany is out once more. He will have to be shut down for the season if he isn’t added to the active roster by next Tuesday’s closing of business. There is a roster place available for the Lions.
