Crystal Palace in talks to sign "phenomenal" £61,000-a-week star for Glasner
According to Rik Elfrink, Crystal Palace want to sign Union Berlin defender Robin Gosens this summer before other teams vie for his services.
Oliver Glasner, the Austrian coach, has acknowledged that the Eagles are searching for a new left wing back before the August 30 deadline. As a result, the team is trying to strengthen its defensive alternatives for Glasner in advance of the upcoming campaign.
The Premier League team is now interested in Gosens, but they are currently trailing PSV Eindhoven and Torino in the race to get him since the Bundesliga team is demanding a high price.
The twenty-year-old German international played 37 times for Union Berlin last season, including in the Champions League, after spending 18 months at Inter Milan.
Due to his accomplishments, PSV Eindhoven and Torino have entered the battle to recruit him for the summer; however, according to journalist Elfrink, the Bundesliga club is seeking a “big chunk of money.”
After only a year back in his native country, the 30-year-old is willing to leave for a fresh experience, and Crystal Palace is also willing to negotiate for him.
Gosens, who makes over £61,000 a week with Union Berlin and was dubbed “phenomenal” at one point in his career, will likely face competition from Tyrick Mitchell for a starting position in the Premier League.
The Selhurst Park team’s first-choice left-back is approaching the end of his contract, and Manchester United has shown interest in him this summer as well.
There may be movement in the middle of defense in addition to the Eagles’ pursuit of Gosens, who would bolster their full-back position.
While Newcastle has made three attempts to get Marc Guehi to St. James’ Park, Fulham has made two attempts to bring Joachim Andersen back to Craven Cottage.
Although Steve Parish has stated that neither player will be permitted to go, a deal involving Guehi is reportedly getting closer to completion in front of the August 30 deadline. Fabrizio Romano exclusively told GMS that the Magpies are “quite confident” about the deal. Palace is also considering a wide range of alternatives in case they decide to move on.
Oliver Glasner has stated his interest in Maxence Lacroix, a former colleague, and Chelsea exile Trevoh Chalobah as a potential target. Additionally, according to Fabrizio Romano, Odilon Kossounou is being considered as a potential candidate.
