Crystal Palace attacker to join different League One side amid Exeter City interest
According to a report by London News Online, Northampton Town is in the process of arranging a loan agreement for Roshaun Mathurin, an attacker for Crystal Palace.
In the race to get the young player, Northampton Town is expected to defeat Exeter City, a League One rival. According to journalist Alan Nixon on his Patreon, the Grecians have also considered making a move, but it seems the Cobblers have taken the lead at this point.
The 20-year-old Mathurin relocated to Crystal Palace from rival London team Tottenham Hotspur last summer. Since then, he has been a vital member of the Eagles Under-21 team, making 23 appearances across all competitions while contributing five goals and six assists.
According to London News Online’s most recent report on his predicament, Jon Brady’s team is trying to entice him to Sixfields. This Saturday, they travel to the Memorial Ground on the road to take on Bristol Rovers to begin the new season.
Mathurin might be seen as a way to give Northampton Town’s offensive line additional depth and competitiveness.
He will offer them something new moving forward because he can play on either wing’s flank.
With so much promise, the Londoner will gain experience by playing regularly in the Football League.
Mathurin was a mainstay for the North London team at several different junior levels after rising through the Spurs academy ranks.
Then, a year and a half ago, he moved out of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and settled into Crystal Palace.
Although the prospect has not yet made a senior appearance for the Eagles, he will be hoping that his time at Northampton Town will help him grow and increase his chances of eventually making an impression on Oliver Glasner.
Following their promotion from League Two to the third division last season, the Cobblers have settled in nicely.
They placed fourteenth last term and hope to improve upon that performance this semester.
Important loan players
and Marc Leonard left Brady after their terms were up. Since then, the latter has joined Birmingham City.
In an attempt to replace them, Northampton Town has added players like Matt Dibley-Dias and Callum Morton, and they will be looked upon to perform well.
Their most recent preseason friendly ended in a 2-0 loss at Cheltenham Town. But those games are meant to help players stay in shape and give them additional minutes so they can rapidly get back up to speed.
