Aston Villa can sign Marcus Rashford for cut-price transfer after Man United decision
In the January transfer window, Marcus Rashford was linked to Aston Villa; Manchester United is willing to “cut their losses” and let the player go if any other teams show interest in him the following month.
Along with colleague Alejandro Garnacho, Rashford was left out of the squad that defeated rivals Manchester City in thrilling fashion at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. Manager Ruben Amorim contested the forward’s return to the starting lineup this coming week.
The new Old Trafford boss said of Rashford and Garnacho when asked to explain their absences from the squad: “It is important the performance in training, the performance in games, the way you dress, the way you eat, the way you engage with your teammates, the way you push your teammates.”
After his contract was extended in the summer of 2023, the attacker is reportedly earning over £300,000 a week; nevertheless, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a co-owner of United, is willing to make a lot of tough choices in order to implement a significant cultural change behind the scenes.
Rashford is therefore free to choose a new club, even though his pay will undoubtedly make things more difficult for interested parties.
Along with teams like Marseille and Napoli on the continent, Villa was linked to an improbable move earlier this season for the England international, who scored 30 goals in 2022–2023 but has since struggled to equal such tallies.
