Armed police race to Ayrshire street as residents told to 'stay in their homes'
A street in Ayrshire has been blocked off by armed police due to an emergency.
The specialized police officers have been observed in front of a home on Marguerite Place in Ayr’s Kincaidston neighborhood.
A local has reported that neighbors who are afraid have been urged to “stay in their homes.”
The small store close to the location is reportedly closed when police descended on the estate this morning.
We have reached out to Police Scotland for a response.
Following concerns that a man was in possession of a firearm late last night, heavily armed police descended upon a Kilmarnock estate.
The alert was triggered last night at approximately nine o’clock at night, and specialist police swarmed the Onthank neighborhood of the town.
In an attempt to locate the individual, dozens of police cars were sent to the scene; some were stationed on Knockinlaw Road, while more were searching the area around the incident’s center.
Officers were on the scene for hours, focusing their attention on Meiklewood Road near the Spar, which is located across from Onthank Primary School.
Police, however, said this morning that they have not located any evidence of a suspect and that they are still looking into the event.
Knockinlaw Road was being patrolled by a single armed police officer. Although the road was open to traffic, the man with the gun appeared to be urging drivers to move quickly across the busy intersection.
“Police were called to Knockinlaw Road, Kilmarnock, around 9pm on Monday, May 1, 2023 following a report of a man with a weapon,” a Police Scotland spokeswoman stated.
