A security guard intervened to prevent a shoplifter from entering the store by having him assume a boxing stance.

Hearings at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court After that, Liam Leek gave the employee a single hit to the face.

On May 18, Leek, 26, of Trinity Street, Oswaldtwistle, entered a guilty plea to charges of beating Chris Doherty and stealing a £12 beer crate from Tesco Express in Oswaldtwistle.

He was given a 12-month community order that included 50 hours of unpaid labor and a 10-day rehabilitation activity requirement.

He was mandated to pay Mr. Doherty £50 in compensation, £85 in expenses, and a victim surcharge of £114.

The prosecutor, Bilal Saeed, stated that Leek had gone into the store with another man who bought something. Leek took a case of beer and walked away without paying as they were leaving.

Mr. Saeed claimed, “He came back later, and this time security personnel told him he couldn’t come in.”

“He commenced to twirl before the security guard, and subsequently struck him across the face.”

In his mitigating remarks, Gareth Price stated that there was only one blow and no indication of any physical harm.

Mr. Price stated, “He acknowledges that the main aggravating factor is that this was an assault on a person who was merely performing his job.”
