A season-long loan move to Leeds United is expected to be finalized as their transfer hunt continue
A season-long loan move to Leeds United is expected to be finalized as their transfer hunt continues.
Hugo Bueno, a left-back target, looks likely to abandon his interest in Leeds United and move to the Netherlands. According to reports, Feyenoord and Wolverhampton Wanderers have an Eredivisie loan agreement in place for the Spaniard to join Feyenoord.
Daniel Farke was considering a few full-back alternatives, including the 21-year-old. On the left side of the United defense, Bueno would have faced off against Junior Firpo for minutes, but he now appears destined for the continent.
Farke has not hidden the fact that he wants to bolster his full-back lineup. Currently, Sam Byram, Jayden Bogle, and Firpo are his best choices; however, the latter two have a history of injuries.
One of the problems Leeds is said to have encountered is a reluctance to sign at Elland Road without any assurance of regular starts, especially with loan targets. Farke is not willing to sign contracts that penalize parent clubs if their players don’t receive enough playing time, much less make such commitments.
This was reportedly one of the issues that prevented them from pursuing Liverpool’s Fabio Carvalho during the previous campaign. Hull City was eager to ensure that the Portuguese player would play, no matter how well he was playing, but Leeds would to budge on this.
If Bueno had joined Leeds, he most likely would have began the season on the bench, watching for an injury, suspension, or poor performance from Firpo to cause him to be benched. Over the previous two seasons, Bueno has made 43 appearances in the Premier League for Wolves.
Leeds is still looking to bolster their full-back lineup, and should Bueno’s move to Feyenoord go through, they will remove him from their shortlist.
