Released Leeds Rhinos centre Paul Momirovski signs for new club

Midway through a two-year deal, the Australian was released by the Rhinos in October, Leeds were able to sign Parramatta Eels’ star Fijian winger Maika Sivo since his departure freed up space on their overseas quota.

Last month, the Yorkshire Evening Post reported that Momirovski was thinking about playing in France. He has since committed to Lezignan, an Elite One team, till the end of their winter season.

The 28-year-old scored seven tries in 24 games after joining the Rhinos from the Sydney Roosters a year ago.

“I’m looking forward to getting to Lézignan and having a good second part of the season with the team,” Momirovski posted on the club’s social media accounts. The prospect of performing in front of the club’s fans excites me much.

“He can develop into center and/or half positions,” the club announcement also stated. The green-and-whites will greatly benefit from his experience in this second half of the season.

It has been a busy few days for players released by Rhinos at the end of last season. Leon Ruan has joined Hull KR after a successful trial and Kieran Hudson moved to York Knights following a brief spell at Castleford Tigers.
