Former MK Dons midfield Dele Alli has confirmed he is leaving Everton
After joining the Toffees in January 2022, the 28-year-old hasn’t played since February 2023 while on loan at Turkish Besiktas.
Following his revelations in July 2023 though about a history of child abuse and drug addiction, Dele’s recovery and rehabilitation has been his main priority.
Dele made his debut with MK Dons in 2012 and helped the team be promoted to the Championship before landing a move to Tottenham in 2015.
A successful spell at Spurs led him to becoming an England regular, appearing at the World Cup in 2018 where the Three Lions reached the semi-finals. But following a drop-off in form, he left London for Liverpool in 2022, but made just 11 appearances for Everton in nearly three years.
“As widely published this week, 2025 may set me on a new path with some exciting opportunities,” Dele posted on social media to confirm his departure.
It’s crucial that I express my gratitude to all of the Everton FC players, staff, and supporters for their support before any of that takes place.
“Trying to put the pieces together to get back to match fitness has been an extremely difficult journey, and I am so grateful to the Everton staff for their tireless efforts.”
Unfortunately, things haven’t turned out the way we all hoped, so I believe it’s time for me to move on.
“I wish everyone at this incredible club the best of luck, and I hope to see you all again soon.”
Dele has already been connected by the rumor mill to a move to Italy to join Como, owned by Cesc Fabregas.
