Are The Shakers ready for blockbuster festive showdowns with title rivals Chadderton and Ramsbottom United?
As Bury gets ready for their highly anticipated festive matchups with title rivals Chadderton and Ramsbottom United, Bryan Ly says the team must “stand up and fight.”
The striker believes Bury must win both games to have a realistic chance of winning the title, acknowledging that the Shakers have not been good enough, particularly in last weekend’s 3-3 draw with Abbey Hey.
Dave McNabb’s team will play Chadderton, the NWCL Premier Division leaders, at Avro’s Vestacare Stadium tomorrow night before facing Ramsbottom United at Gigg Lane in a huge Boxing Day match.
Ly admits something needs to change, but he is sure Bury can still do it.
“It is annoying, but the manager previously stated that the football at the beginning of the season kind of covered up the cracks, and we are now noticing them,” he remarked on the club website.
Since we have two important games coming up and everyone understands that we must win those games in order to have a chance of still winning the title, we need to have those cracks patched. We shall see, but I remain confident.
In their last four games, the Shakers have only managed five points out of a potential twelve, indicating their recent struggles.
Ly, who scored twice before Abbey Hey equalized in the 97th minute at Gigg Lane, stated, “Just not good enough.” It seems like we constantly set ourselves a challenge to overcome.
Bury will play Chadderton for the fourth time this season after losing in the FA Vase and Macron Cup after winning the first league meeting in October.
Ly is therefore prepared.
“We are aware of Chaddy’s character, and they will put up a fight for us,” he added, adding that it would be difficult. We are hoping for a positive outcome because Nicky Adams stated that we must face the battle that before us on Friday.
Ly acknowledged that it shouldn’t have to come to that, even though Bury has shown the tenacity to return to games.
“That is a nice addition to the team, but ultimately, we should be eliminating teams in the first half,” he stated.
That is not to imply that we are overly skilled, but we ought to put them away when the opportunity arises. The players that we have on this team are absurd.
“We shouldn’t have to climb a mountain after allowing them to score. All it needs to do is change.
Ly, who has 11 goals this season, stated that he would much rather have points than individual recognition.
He said, “It’s okay that I scored, but I recall saying at the beginning that I couldn’t care about me scoring as long as we got the three points.” “Although I appreciate the goals, I would much rather have the three points in the end.”
