Sheffield Wednesday and West Bromwich Albion given major boosts as Southampton ‘agree’ head coach deal

Rohl’s name was instantly floated as a possible replacement for Russell Martin when the Saints dismissed him of his duties over the weekend.

He was a coach with the Saints under Ralph Hasenhüttl, so he has a history with the team.

Talks were reportedly in progress, but it seems Southampton has taken a different approach.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claims that the Saints have reached an agreement to give Juric control.

The 49-year-old, a Croatia international in his playing days, was most recently in charge of Serie A giants Roma. He has also led the likes of Genoa, Hellas Verona and Torino.

Juric looks set to be tasked with dragging Southampton away from danger, with the club currently rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table.

The Owls might not be out of the woods just yet, but Rohl might not be headed to Southampton. The 35-year-old has also been connected to the Hamburg, Germany, opening.

Given that Baggies manager Carlos Corberan has also been connected to the Saints position, West Bromwich Albion may also be comforted by the St. Mary’s news.

He is regarded as one of the EFL’s most talented young coaches and has excelled at The Hawthorns despite challenging conditions.

Corberan’s first English football position was with Leeds United’s under-23 team. He went on to lead Huddersfield Town’s main team.
