Blackburn Rovers and West Brom managers linked with Premier League job after new development
Blackburn Rovers have had an excellent start to this campaign and are just five points adrift of the automatic promotion spots with a game in hand on their rivals.
Right now, the Lancashire team has won six straight games. They have only given up one goal in that stretch, and they have kept clean sheets in each of their previous five games. During his ten months in charge, John Eustace has done a fantastic job with the team.
After doing such a good job it is no shock that he is being linked with the now-open Wolves position. Alex Crook, reporting on X, has suggested that Eustace is in the frame for the job.
It is unknown whether there has been any approach as of yet after Gary O’Neil’s sacking.
Eustace is not the only Championship boss to be linked with the post either. West Brom chief Carlos Corberan is also among those sounded out with a controversial move to his midlands rivals.
Ben Jacobs is reporting that he has a £4m compensation cause and he has always remained loyal to West Brom.
Just over a year ago, Eustace was sacked by Birmingham City despite a decent start to the season.
The job was his first permanent role in first-team management and he had the Blues on the cusp of the play-offs. The sacking left him unemployed for four months until Blackburn Rovers approached, while former club City now find themselves in League One.
It remains to be seen whether Eustace would take the job if offered. Considering Rovers and Wolves’ current positions, he may not feel it is wise.
Blackburn Rovers face a difficult Christmas period over the next five games. After a trip to Millwall on the 21st, they then face three promotion rivals across 10 days.
Sunderland then visit Ewood Park on Boxing Day before Hull City make the trip just three days later. Leeds United and fierce rivals Burnley are on the agenda over the New Year.
This run of games could easily make or break Rovers’ season. Nevertheless, fans will be thrilled with the position they find themselves in given the feeling they entered the season with.
Rovers will hope Eustace is still at the helm for that as Wolves weigh up their options.
