Ryan Reynolds shows up at Wrexham pub with Channing Tatum and buys everyone a drink
Ryan Reynolds, the owner of Wrexham, shocked the community on Friday night when he and his friend Channing Tatum, a Hollywood A-lister, showed up at a pub in the town.
Reynolds had flown over from the United States to watch his team play Cambridge United at the Racecourse this weekend, and the arrival of the two surprised the patrons of the Fat Boar bar in Wrexham.
Reynolds posed for photos with fans before addressing the punters with a speech. He grabbed the microphone and said: “I’m buying a round for everyone in here! Although they might be bussing in another 100 people as we speak, but that’s fine.
“Then I’m going to get the f*** out and go to bed. I have four kids and this is a night off where I get to just go to bed when I want to, which I am very excited about.
“And I’m very excited about tomorrow. I hope you all will be watching and ‘Up The Town!’
“If I don’t come and visit each and every one of you tonight, in your homes, I just want to say happy holidays and my best to your families.”
Reynolds and Tatum both starred in the recent box office smash of the year, Deadpool & Wolverine, with the former playing the title character of Deadpool and the latter taking on the role of Gambit.
Like Deadpool and Wolverine, Reynolds and his co-owner Rob McElhenney have formed quite the duo for the north Wales club in recent years. After taking charge, they have overseen promotion out of both the National League and League Two.
Phil Parkinson’s side are now well positioned in League One, sitting in second position after 19 games, level on points with league leaders Wycombe.
And Reynolds, and Tatum, will hope to see Wrexham maintain the pressure on the Chairboys with a win over Cambridge United this afternoon.
