Police announces Onslow County road closure after officers dies in horror collision.

Jacksonville police look into a fatal Onslow County motorbike accident.

WNCT, Jacksonville, North Carolina — A automobile accident has claimed the life of an Onslow County jail officer.

On January 2, Tyler Johnson, a member of the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office, was hired. He passed away from the wounds he received in the collision last Saturday.

According to NC State Highway Patrol Trooper Davis, the collision occurred at approximately 3:20 p.m. on Comfort Road in Richlands. Amanda Vanbuskirk was driving one of the two cars involved. Due to her injuries, she was admitted to the hospital.

According to Davis, Vanbuskirk was operating a white Dodge SUV when it crossed the center line and collided with Johnson’s car. Vanbuskirk was charged with driving left of center and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.

On Monday, the Sheriff’s Office posted condolences on Facebook. Jones Funeral Home in Richlands will host Johnson’s funeral on Friday, February 16. At 2:00 pm, the service will begin.

Jacksonville police look into a fatal Onslow County motorbike accident.

The town of Jacksonville, Onslow County The Jacksonville Police Department is looking into a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred in Onslow County on Thursday, October 17.

Around 7:30 p.m., according to authorities, Donovan Holliday was riding a 2008 Buell motorbike on Gumbranch Road.

The preliminary investigation states that Holliday struck the right rear passenger door of a Toyota Highlander that was turning left on White Oak Street from the center lane as he was approaching White Oak Street.

After being taken to Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune, Holliday passed away from his wounds.

“It is an open and active investigation,” says Police Chief Jared Phelps.
