In Sheffield, a terrible collision that resulted in a road closure claimed the lives of five troops and officers.

A Sheffield woman was hurt in a rollover accident and was cited.

A non-service-related single-vehicle crash near Sheffield(opens in a new tab), N.B., over the weekend claimed the lives of three soldiers.

Around 3:10 a.m. on Sunday, Oromocto RCMP arrived at the scene of the collision on Route 105.

Maj. Christopher Daniel, the Department of National Defense’s senior public affairs officer (opens in a new tab), confirmed the three people inside the car were members of the 31 Canadian Brigade Group in an email to CTV Atlantic on Friday.

According to Daniel, all Canadian Army personnel and their families can easily access chaplain and mental health services at this trying time.

The vehicle was traveling east on Route 105 when it went off the road, collided with a tree, and caught fire, according to an RCMP news release on Sunday.

To help identify the people and determine the precise cause of death, autopsies have been performed.

A Sheffield woman was hurt in a rollover accident and was cited.

In northeastern Elyria on Tuesday, a single-car rollover accident injured a Sheffield woman.

Sophia Cantrell, 33, was heading south on Abbe Road shortly before 2:00 p.m. when her gray Nissan Juke veered left of center into the northbound lane, according to Elyria Police Lt. Bill Lantz. After that, Cantrell’s vehicle veered off the road to the east and at least once rolled.

Cantrell was taken to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center for treatment after sustaining “minor injuries” in the collision, according to the police.

Records from the Elyria Municipal Court show that Cantrell, a Sheffield resident, was cited for driving a car without exercising reasonable control.
