Police announces Swansboro road closure after three car collision

A man was struck by an 18-wheeler  in Swansboro.

Swansboro Public Safety posted a notice about the crash to its Facebook page.

Officials said they responded just after 3:30 p.m. Swansboro Police & Fire personnel were dispatched to the intersection of West Corbett Avenue and Hammocks Beach Road regarding a pedestrian struck by a tractor-trailer.

Kenneth Michael Hendricks, 39, of Swansboro was hit by a truck driven by Brandon Matthew Poston, 35, of Lancaster, SC. Hendricks was transported to Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune with serious injuries. His condition was unknown Tuesday night.

Poston was charged with a red light violation. The Swansboro Police Department was investigating with the assistance of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
