Unbelievable. Hull FC investor confirm president replacement updates.

According to reports, Thirkill is negotiating an investment in Hull FC.

After serving his tenure as Leeds Rhinos club president, potential Hull FC investor Andrew Thirkill will be replaced with the first-ever female appointment. The Rhinos have announced that Gill Spencer would succeed Thirkill as club president on November 1, 2024.

Thirkill is thought to be the driving force behind possible investment in the Black and Whites, as Hull Live first revealed in April. Adam Pearson, the club’s chairman at the time, confirmed the conversations, albeit he did not name the Yorkshire billionaire.

Pearson acknowledged at the time that the process would take several months, but it is thought that those discussions have continued subsequently. Richie Myler’s spouse, whose position as the club’s Director of Rugby was confirmed in April, is Thirkill’s father.

The 65-year-old said ‘it’s the perfect moment to hand the baton on’ as his president’s term at Leeds comes to a close. “Being a Leeds Rhinos supporter for more than 50 years and being elected Club President has been an incredible honor. In my six years as Club President, the team has advanced to the Super League Grand Final and won the Challenge Cup Final in 2020 at the ‘Covid Wembley’ with only 50 fans in attendance, which is a one-of-a-kind and unforgettable experience,” he said.

“I’ve been able to make a lot of friends thanks to the role during our fantastic Rugby League game. Representing the Caddick family, who, along with Gary Hetherington, have led the team through an unparalleled era of consistent success, has also been a pleasure.

“It seemed appropriate to ‘pass the baton.'” Gill Spencer, a longtime supporter and good friend, was selected by the club to fill the position. This is a great decision, and I wish Gill the best of luck as well.”
