Live updates as road close after tragic death of 30 passengers in Double decker bus

A coroner has raised concerns about young, newly-qualified drivers carrying passengers after an inquest into the deaths of 30 teenagers who died when a Double decker bus rolled into a ditch in North Wales.

Police and ambulance crews were called to Redcar Lane near the Redcar East train crossing after Double decker bus collided just after 7:45 am. Images from the scene show police and ambulance vehicles on either side of the crossing with a white vehicle flipped on its roof to the side.

The North East Ambulance Service has confirmed that four people were taken to hospital following the incident, with the service sending three double-crewed ambulances and a clinical team leader to the scene. Cleveland Police confirmed that there were not thought to be any serious injuries.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called just after 7:45 am to a Double decker bus road traffic collision on Redcar Lane, Redcar. We dispatched three double-crewed ambulances and a clinical team leader. Four patients were taken to James Cook Hospital.”

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: “We were called to a Double decker bus collision at around 7:45 am, on Redcar Lane in Redcar. Officers along with colleagues from the North East Ambulance Service and Cleveland Fire Brigade attended the scene.
