Premier League reveal terrible news for Nottingham Forest players.

Four Nottingham Forest players will have to watch out for themselves if they want to avoid serving a one-match ban.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s team has had an incredible start to the season; they have only suffered one defeat in the Premier League thus far.

Their solitary loss came at home to Fulham, where Nuno’s mistake proved to be the cause of the game. However, they bounced back with a crucial road point against a strong Chelsea.

While a number of Nottingham Forest players have been playing well, they cannot afford to be careless.

James Ward-Prowse and Morgan Gibbs-White have already been sent off once this season, and 15 members of Forest’s starting lineup have received yellow cards.

With three, Neco Williams is the highest ranking player; Ryan Yates, Matz Sels, and Ibrahim Sangare have two each.

Particularly those four will have to exercise caution going forward or risk being frustrated by a one-match suspension.

An explanation of the Premier League’s yellow card policy
As anyone knows, footballers can be brandished yellow and red cards.

A yellow card is typically handed to a player as a warning for anything from poor tackle technique to disobedience.

A player who receives a yellow card can still play, but if they receive a second warning, they will receive a second yellow card, which can eventually turn into a red one.

A player already on a yellow card may still receive a straight red card in lieu of two yellow cards if the infraction is deemed serious.

As a result, many players receive several yellow cards during the course of the season, however there is a cap.

Five yellow cards are automatically good for one match ban for a player.

This is only applicable to league games, thus the player in question would be eligible to participate if a Carabao Cup or FA Cup match happened in between.

A player would be suspended for two matches if they received ten yellow cards.

In even less likely situations, receiving 15 yellow cards would result in a suspension of three matches, and receiving 20 may lead to an FA misconduct charge.

The four Forest players who are at risk will have 19 games remaining in the season—the midway point—to avoid receiving five yellow cards.

Accordingly, before facing a suspension, players may collect up to four yellow cards in the first half of the season.

A two-game penalty will be imposed on players who receive ten bookings prior to the 33rd matchday of the season.
