My 1st Years reopens 19 weeks after devastating fire

The online baby boutique warehouse was destroyed by a fire in May

Less than five months have passed since a fire destroyed the headquarters and $3 million worth of stock of a Northamptonshire-based baby gift firm.

Based in Northampton According to My 1st Years, which made headlines in 2016 when Prince George was seen meeting Barack Obama while wearing one of its robes, the suspected fire attack caused £15 million in damage and halted sales.

The 100,000 square foot warehouse, head office, and photography studio of the personalised gift brand were completely destroyed by fire at the company’s Northamptonshire warehouse in Brackmills early on May 1. This resulted in significant refunds for clients.

Nineteen weeks after the fire, My 1st Years is relaunching on Wednesday at a new location in Grange Park, close to the M1 junction. All 120 employees of the company will be kept in their current positions.

Before the fire My First Years had grown by 30% year over year, and co-founders Daniel Price and Jonny Sitton planned to expand internationally.

“We never imagined ourselves in this situation, but the fire has given us the opportunity to reevaluate our goals for the future of our company and has highlighted the significance of having the appropriate insurance for each and every one of them.”

We were able to maintain employment for our personnel and acquire a new factory in a matter of months thanks to our insurance.

“Now we would be in a completely different situation if we hadn’t had that.”

“We are thrilled to embark on a new journey with My 1st Years starting today – with new products, better materials, and a faster personalization process for every shopper,” the statement continued.

My 1st Years started operating in 2010 and provides a choice of personalised phrases or names for embroidery, printing, and engraving.

The proprietors of the company stated that they were inundated with messages of kindness following the fire, including support from Giovanna Fletcher, the winner of I’m A Celebrity last year, who shared a video message on social media.

At around 1.30 am on May 1, Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service was dispatched to the Brackmills Industrial Estate fire. At the peak of the incident, eight appliances were on the scene.

Despite the start of an investigation, no one has been taken into custody.
